Level Design & Narrative Design
In charge of Strange Brigade's 7th level Forsaken City, in addition to being the principle writer for the project, working collaboratively with Gordon Rennie.
The driving force behind the implementation of the narrator & dialogue mechanics in 2018’s Strange Brigade, working closely with all departments across all 3 of Rebellion’s studios at the time to deliver the games critically acclaimed ‘Narrator’ system as well as all other character dialogue throughout the title’s launch content.
While supervising this mechanic, I was also in charge of the game’s 7th level Forsaken City - throughout the development process. Creating it following the games design structure & keeping its design up to date whenever new systems were implemented, in addition to quickly resolving any issues brought up by our QA team and others.
Responsibilities on this project included.
Principle Writer, working collaboratively with Gordon Rennie throughout the title's development.
Responsible for maintaining the games narrative tone & style.
Creating and maintaining up to date level documentation.
Creating and maintaining up to date dialogue & narrative documentation.
Rapid prototyping of multiple combat arena iterations to benefit the games gunplay & combat systems.
Working within the allocated performance guidelines to maintain a smooth gameplay experience to the end user throughout the levels hectic combat arenas.
Implementing challenging & rewarding puzzle systems in the level to complement the games treasure hunting motif.
Overseeing design & implementation of the games ‘narrator’ dialogue system across all launch content game modes (Campaign, Horde & Score Attack).
Working closely with the heads of Audio & Casting during all of the Narrator & 4 playable launch characters VO recording sessions, to ensure the delivered audio would best adhere to the gameplay when triggered throughout development.
Continuing these responsibilities into the games DLC Campaign while assisting in onboarding new designers to the project and continuing to create and implement dialogue for a further 5 playable DLC characters.
